After Jesus and His disciples began their passover supper on the night He was arrested, He told them that one of them would betray Him. They wondered at that, and some of them denied that they ever would, while others asked if it was them. Jesus told them that the one to whom He would pass the bread after He had dipped it was His betrayer. He dipped the bread, and passed it to Judas Iscariot, telling him that what he was about to do, to go ahead and do quickly. Judas rose and left, betraying Jesus to the Jews for thirty pieces of silver.

Maybe Judas thought, not understanding what Jesus had said in John 8:44, that the Jews were Israelites, Whites, and should be included. Maybe even if he didn’t, he thought that Jesus would have been more successful and had a larger following if He hadn’t been…
