A few years ago, I heard about a food shortage in a Communist country. The government decided to address the problem by telling the public that eating only one meal per day was “healthy.”
Mark my words, it won’t be long before the U.S. federal government is telling Americans that meat is a “luxury food,” so OF COURSE poor people can’t expect to eat it every day. Poor people being most people.
What communism does, capitalism does too. It just does it differently. And it doesn’t inflict poverty on everyone—just most people.
And the endorsers of both economic systems make excuses. Sometimes they point to bugs and call them features. Sometimes they try to deflect blame.
The problems will socialism are well-known, and were well-described by Ayn Rand and others, so I needn’t dwell upon them here.
