Answer for the sidearm concern: Whatever platform you are extremely familiar with; that can accept large capacity magazines (such as the Beretta 92/M9 – 18 round flush magazine by Mec-Gar or a Glock 17, 19, 21 or 41 or similar – magazines from 13 rounds and up, and are expandable by two rounds each by a very inexpensive accesssory).
Number of Magazines: MINIMALLY, 3. One in the pistol and 2 on the belt, or in the case of a shoulder holster, under the arm. When I carry my Glock 21, I have three 15 round magazines with me (yes, I have the 2 round extensions on them). When I carry my Beretta M9, I have three 18 round magazines on me.
