In Praise of the Diminutive .22LR 40gr Lead Sub-Sonic Round

I’ve used a few brands of subsonic .22LR ammo throughout the years, and have never been impressed with the accuracy or the report of the ‘subsonic’ round.  I’d pretty much given up on it, until I saw the Norma brand subsonic.  So, I got myself a brick of the above .22LR to shoot out of my old 22 pistol and my Ruger Precision Rimfire (RPRF) just to see what it would do on some paper.  I aven’t had occasion to use it in the RPRF yet, but I’m hoping to very soon.    When I do, I’ll update this post with the results.

During the range session with my pistol, boy, did I get impressed with the .22LR subsonic all over again!

First, this offering by Norma, while not  exactly cheap ($49 for a 500 round brick), sure is accurate!  Out of my pistol, off hand, with a first generation…
